There is no argument from anyone that living without health insurance is a very risky proposition. Unfortunately there are still loads of people that are doing just that. Many people that are not covered will head to the nearest emergency room if they are feeling bad or hurt themselves. This was always an avenue to be seen by a doctor in the past for people with no insurance and no ready cash. Some places will now only see you if they think you are in life or death need.
You can find hospitals that still treat people without health insurance. You won’t get treated for free though. You will get a bill and they will expect you to make payments on that. People without insurance end up with a higher rate of bill charges than those with coverage. When you have insurance they can decide what they think is a reasonable amount to pay for certain things. Insurance makes things easier in many ways.
Unpaid medical bills can be quite overwhelming and if left unpaid they can be taken from assets that you have and if you don’t have any assets then the hospital can take your tax refund and put it towards payment of these bills. This can leave you with additional financial stress and many people are not aware of this fact until after the fact.
Of course, if you do need to go to the hospital and don’t have medical insurance you can still get some type of treatment but it will be both minimal and expensive. Living life without health insurance is not wise and with so many different health insurance options available you should definitely consider purchasing even a policy with a high deductible to help pay in case you have a serious health issue since this plan will also help to reduce your medical bills for those lesser expenses and this will help keep your financial liability down to a minimum.
